Online TRT Prescription: How It Works

    Short answer

Yes, you can get a testosterone prescription online. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance, so a licensed provider has to evaluate you, confirm low testosterone with blood work, and write the prescription. Federal rules extended through December 31, 2026 let that evaluation happen by telemedicine. Cost Plus TRT does it for $119 a month, everything included, in 49 states.

Is it legal to get testosterone prescribed online?

Yes. Testosterone is listed in Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act with the other anabolic steroids, which means it needs a valid prescription from a licensed, DEA-registered provider. 21 CFR 1308.13

A 2008 federal law, the Ryan Haight Act, generally requires at least one in-person medical evaluation before a controlled substance is prescribed over the internet. Since 2020, the DEA and HHS have let practitioners prescribe Schedule II to V medications through audio-video telemedicine without that in-person visit. The current extension runs from January 1 through December 31, 2026 while the DEA finishes a permanent rule. Federal Register

State law also applies: the provider must be licensed in the state where you are. We will update this page when the federal rule changes.
